Full Description

Our client is a Local Authority based in the South East of England and they are seeking an experienced Planning Manager for their Development Management and Enforcement teams. You will oversee 3 teams of up to 5 Officers to ensure the effective delivery of planning application assessments, including the management of appeals. As well as day to day management of the teams you may, on occasion, be called to act as an expert witness and assist with complex major applications.

You will be heavily involved with process improvement within the Development Management and Enforcement Teams as well as the regeneration of the Town Centre and the delivery of a number of complex schemes across the borough.

Applicants for this post must be qualified Town Planners with experience of local authority town planning. Your strong technical knowledge of UK planning legislation will need to be complimented with good management skills and the confidence and ability to direct a team. Critical to this role will be the ability to communicate effectively and to engage in negotiations that can often be sensitive and complex so you will need to be able to engage productively with third parties to develop good relationships that ensure successful development.
