We have an excellent opportunity to secure a contract working within one of London's most vibrant Boroughs for development work. The department is very large and they employ a high volume of contractors who are given excellent opportunities to handle their own caseload, lead on certain projects and also have the opportunity to work as part of multidisciplinary teams so it's an excellent opportunity to broaden your experience and further your development management knowledge.
Your work will focus on dealing with a caseload of householder and minor planning applications including shopfront, householder, crossover, advert and lawful development applications, beginning with adverts, simple householder extensions and Lawful Development Certificates for proposed development, plus minor changes of use and conversions. You will be providing expert technical advice at every stage. On a daily basis you will be completing reports, carrying out site visits where required and representing the Council at committee.
To apply you will need to have recent experience within a local authority development management team and ideally have worked within London. A good grasp of UK planning legislation is required and you will need to have good communication skills and a positive attitude towards furthering your knowledge and gaining more technical experience. The role is likely to suit someone looking for that first or second move after gaining some solid work experience and feeling ready to take no more responsibility and career development. A relevant town planning degree is required.
The role is based in South West London and will pay around £22-£25/hr (inside IR35) depending on your level of experience. A full job spec is available.
