As a Strategic Procurement Officer you will work across multiple categories to manage the end to end procurement process. You will work with colleagues across the Council to ensure they are advised and supported on the use and application of provisions contained within the Councils' standing orders and procurement legislation. If you have specialism in a particular area e.g. construction works then it is likely they will want you to focus your attention on this area.
A key requirement of the role will be forecasting and delivering savings and other sources of value. You will also oversee contract preparation, tenderer selection, tender evaluation and contract controls are implemented and operated throughout the council in a corporate, consistent and co-ordinated manner.
You will Manage the Tender process and running of e-auctions and you will be responsible for ensuring the e-tendering system is utilised correctly and that data is correct. You will play an active role in maintaining relationships with representatives of neighbouring authorities and public purchasing organisations to identify collaborative procurement opportunities.
The role sits in a joint service team serving 2 authorities in East London. They will offer an initial contract of 3-6 months, likely to extend and will pay £400/day (umbrella). Contact us for a full JD.
