Full Description

Our client based in Bedfordshire requires a Town Planner with at least 5 years of experience to carry out a role within their Development Management Team. You will manage a large and varied caseload of applications comprising householder and majors and you will be providing expert technical advice at every stage.

On occasion you will need to carry out site visits and you will be expected to undertake consultation exercises and produce detailed written report documents that clearly lay out how planning decisions have been arrived at. On a daily basis you will be dealing with planning enquiries from agents, applicants and the general public and you will be required to give accurate pre-application advice to prospective developers.

No appeals work is required and attendance at planning committee is not required in this role

Recent work experience within a Local Authority setting is essential and applicants should be able to write detailed assessments and committee reports. You will need to have good communication skills as you will be dealing with a wide range of stakeholders on a daily basis to convey complex, detailed information in a clear, concise format. You must be able to work well under pressure and have the ability to manage a large and varied caseload of applications.

The role will be offered for an initial 3 month period though it could be extended and the rate offered is between £45-£55 p/hr umbrella. It will be a remote working role though you may be required to carry out site visits. A laptop will be provided for working from home; however candidates can work from Borough Hall in Bedford if preferred. Attendance at team meetings (which are held every Tuesday via Teams) to discuss applications is required.
