Our client is a Local Authority based in the North East of the UK and they require a Senior Planning Officer to join their Development Management Team ASAP. They are looking for someone who can hit the ground running and is experienced with managing a large and varied caseload of planning applications including major and complex minor planning applications.
You will be expected to undertake consultation exercises and produce detailed written report documents that clearly lay out how planning decisions have been arrived at. On a daily basis you will be dealing with planning enquiries from agents, applicants and the general public and you will be required to give accurate pre-application advice to prospective developers. You will also be required to represent the Council at appeals.
Recent work experience in the field in a local authority setting is essential and your knowledge of current planning legislation and guidelines will need to be fully up to date. You will need to have good communication skills as you will be dealing with a wide range of stakeholders on a daily basis to convey complex, detailed information in a clear, concise format.
Our client will pay between £30-£35/hr (inside IR35) and this role can be 100% remote. This contract will initially be offered until the end of March 2021. Please get in touch for further information.
