Full Description

Our client requires an established Planning Policy Officer to take up the role of Senior Officer with a view to eventually progressing to Principal if you have aspirations to do so. As a Senior Officer you will manage a number of complex projects involving multiple stakeholders, and funding streams and work to effectively deal with competing priorities without impacting on service delivery.

On a daily basis you will be required to prepare professional reports, recommendations and briefings with limited supervision, communicating complex issues clearly and succinctly. You will consult, engage and advise customers, communities, colleagues, elected Members and other interested parties as required by legislation so good communication skills and confidence dealing with a range of people is absolutely essential.

A key function you will carry out is to provide support and take responsibility for the work of the team in the development, implementation, review and monitoring of local planning policies and strategy, including the Statutory Development Plan, Infrastructure Plans, Neighbourhood Planning, Supplementary Planning Documents and Conservation Area Character Appraisals.

The successful candidate for this role will need to be able to demonstrate an excellent level of technical knowledge in relation to UK planning policy legislation. Previous roles will have seen you take on project responsibility and they will have provided the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects. We'd like to see professional accreditation at this level and any additional qualifications you have beyond your first degree would be an advantage.

The role is working with a council in North London which is very accessible. They will pay at least £30/hr (umbrella) and the role is inside IR35. Initial contract will be 3 months which is standard with a view to extending until at least the end of March 2020.
