Full Description
Our client is a Local Authority based in East Midlands and they require a Senior Planning Policy Officer to join them for a contract role and assist them in the delivery of their Local Plan and with their evidence base. This will include the Strategic Land Availability Assessment, Site Selection and Infrastructure Delivery Plan.
The plan must be completed by end of September, and several workstreams require immediate support:
• Site Selection — reviewing SLAA/SLAAR submissions, completing site selection proformas, and assessing suitability.
• Infrastructure Delivery Planning — analysing responses from infrastructure providers and building the infrastructure delivery plan.
• Neighbourhood & Local Centres — policy work around local shopping centres and community hubs.
• Evidence Base Management — ensuring all evidence aligns under the Local Plan “umbrella”.

• Processing the SLAAR (Strategic Land Availability Assessment Review)
To apply for this role you will need a relevant degree level qualification and, ideally, professional accreditation. You must have demonstrable understanding of UK town planning procedures, providing a solid foundation for effective decision-making and proven experience in planning policy work, showcasing your ability to navigate complex challenges. You must be able to demonstrate experience in public participation/engagement, fostering collaborative relationships within the community. Holding a Chartered membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute would be beneficial.
This contract will initially be offered for 3 months though it could be extended beyond this, and the rate offered is £33.95/hr Umbrella but we expect there to be room to negotiate this rate. This role is inside IR35.
Our client offers hybrid working arrangements, you’ll need to go into the office twice a week.
