Full Description

Our client is a Local Authority based in the North West of England and they require a Senior DM Planning Officer to join them for a contract role. They are embarking on an ambitious, entrepreneurial and impactful programme to drive regeneration, create jobs and ensure sustainable, long-term growth in their economy. Major projects are being established to kick-start regeneration at key sites throughout the borough.

They need an ambitious Planner with experience in with managing a varied caseload of planning applications ranging from medium to major applications. On occasion you will be required to deal with contentious development control issues, including undertaking negotiations with applicants/prospective developers and representatives of other Council departments. Our client is looking for someone who will be able to help them build relationships with developers and promote the use of PPAs. The Service sits at the heart of the Council's place shaping and investment agenda.

You will need a relevant town planning degree and a good working knowledge of UK planning legislation and a minimum of 3 years recent work experience in a similar role. Good communication skills and confidence are essential and you must be comfortable dealing with the general public. Our client has a wide range of work underway and will accept applications from applicants with suitable experience from either the public or private sectors.

The hourly rate offered will depend on your experience and these contracts will initially be offered for 6 months. These will be home working roles though you will be expected to carry out site visits as required.
