Our client is a Local Authority in South West London which is recruiting for an experienced Planner to join their Planning Enforcement Team for a contract role. This is a customer-focused role and you will assist in the timely and appropriate conclusion of planning enforcement cases, both new and historic.
You will be responsible for providing expert technical advice at every stage of an enforcement case. On a daily basis you will be responsible for carrying out the following:
• To prepare written evidence in respect of planning and enforcement appeals and other related matters and to present evidence at public inquiries, informal hearings and court hearings as required.
• To monitor breaches of planning control, planning obligations and agreements, and planning conditions.
• To investigate reported breaches of planning control, including changes of use, gypsy incursions, works to protect trees, works to listed buildings, and breaches of advertising regulations having regard to agreed priorities.
Recent work experience in the field is essential and your knowledge of current planning legislation and guidelines will need to be fully up to date. You will need to have good communication skills as you will be dealing with a wide range of stakeholders on a daily basis to convey complex, detailed information in a clear, concise format.
This contract will initially run until the end of March 2026. Our client is offering £36.56/hr Umbrella but there might be room to negotiate on this. This role is inside IR35.
