Full Description

Our client based on the South East of England, not too far from London, is looking to appoint a Public Health Programme Officer to join the team working on Adults and Communities. In this role you would report directly into the Public Health Programme Manager and help to create a comprehensive life course prevention programme in own area of work mapped to an evidence-based framework.

This is an integral role in the team and will require you to develop excellent working relationships with internal and external partners to ensure that the programme achieves the greatest possible community benefit and value for money for the Council. You will aim to provide information and support to the public, other council staff, partners and the Public Health Programme Manager with regard to project and programme performance and to work closely with the local authorities shared public health team to monitor and redesign shared contracts and programmes.

Some other key responsibilities will include:

1. To ensure that frontline practitioners and all staff within, and affected by, the public health service are supported by strong and robust learning and development opportunities in conjunction with corporate support functions.

2. Support local communities in the development of actions to tackle longstanding and widening health inequality issues, using community development approaches, or social marketing as appropriate

3. Design and implement programmes including monitoring, evaluating and reporting on outcomes to a range of partners

4. Design and implement audits in conjunction with the clinical lead and make recommendations for service improvement working with the contracts and performance lead

5. To ensure that the Council is able to receive all relevant additional funding local, regional or national that is available to support the implementation of public health improvements and bid for and receive any further funding as appropriate.

This assignment would require someone who has extensive knowledge and experience of using information technology, including basic packages, and social media with the ability to develop and update webpages. You would also be expected to have previous relevant experience in a similar role. This assignment is for an initial period of 3 months with a likely extension thereafter and the pay rate is £400-£450/day umbrella.
