Full Description

Our client based in East London, is looking to appoint a Public Health Practitioner. This is a Public Health post which will provide wide opportunities for developing a public health career, within a Local Authority context.

The post holder will work within a team of public health staff, providing knowledge and experience at a Public Health Practitioner level. This role will be based within a central team but will work with (and often co-locate with) services and managers across all directorates embedding the Public Health responsibilities into the framework of the organisation.

Your main areas of responsibility will include but not be limited to:

1. Responsibility for the commissioning, implementation and delivery of a defined area of Public Health.

2. Working with Public Health colleagues to ensure all statutory requirements related to Public Health are delivered through the Public Health division (e.g. Joint Strategic Needs Assessment).

3. To prepare and present reports and briefings to Members, senior management, programme boards and partnerships which include analysis of information and recommendations for corrective actions and continuous improvement.

4. To collate and analyse relevant demographic information, service trends, user consultation and feedback, as well as research about effective services to ensure that assessments of need, service development and planning are based on good practice and evidence.

5. To ensure that commissioning programmes and programmes of work improve service outcomes to reflect and address the ethnicity and cultural diversity of the local population as well as address inequality of access to public health services.

6. To ensure that the Council’s and partnership business planning processes are fully informed in relation to required service developments and cost pressures in the provision of public health services

This is a full time assignment that is set to last for an initial period of 6 months with a likely extension thereafter and the pay is a minimum of £25/hour umbrella.
