Our client in North London is looking to appoint a Public Health Consultant on a fixed term contract until the end of the year.
The post holder will have considerable freedom to act, expected to deal with complex public health issues and instigate and drive change in the system. They will advise the Council, NHS bodies and the Health and Wellbeing Board on services, patient care and wider determinants of health. The work will serve the local residents and will require initiation, development and maintenance of local networks as well as sub regional and London wide collaborations.
Some key responsibilities:
1.Provision of highly technical and specialist public health advice to NHS, public health, social care and other service developments;
2.Oversight and accountability for commissioning (as required);
3.Embedding a Health in all Policies (HiAP) approach across the Council and partners;
4.To carry out the assurance duty for the Council of immunisation and screening programmes for people of all ages.
5.To support the DPH in health protection duties including COVID response activities, emergency planning resilience and response to health threats;
6.Development, implementation and delivery of national, regional and local policies, developing inter-agency and interdisciplinary strategic plans and programmes, with delegated Board or organisational authority to deliver key public health targets.
7.Information and intelligence systems to underpin public health action across disciplines and organisations, leading collation and interpretation of relevant data
For this assignmnet it is essential that you have proven experience to lead, engage, motivate, appraise and develop staff to deliver high standards of service and performance. You will have successfully led teams to respond positively to change
and have experience of effective budget management and deliver services plans on time and on budget.
It is crucial that you have Inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register/GDC Specialist List/UK Public Health Register (UKPHR) for Public Health Specialists -This entails a masters programme plus further postgraduate medical specialist training.
This role is a fixed term contract for 6 months with a salary of £75K - 90K - Please make sure that you have the relevant experience before applying.
