Working for a Local Authority in South London you will take responsibility for key strategic objectives of the local authority and the Health & Wellbeing Board and act as a change agent to enable delivery of relevant outcome indicators from the public health, NHS and social care outcome frameworks.
We have 2 roles to fill in their Behavioural, Commissioning & Digital Public Health team. You will work to develop and maintain systems and processes to enable the authority to work with partners in responding to major incidents including health protection threats.
Your remit will be wide in scope and cover public health mandated services within behavioural health: tobacco, alcohol and drugs, HIV, sexual and reproductive health, mental health, loneliness and isolation, digital public health and public health commissioning.
On a regular basis you will provide briefings on the health and wellbeing needs of local communities to Councillors, Council Officers, CCGs, the 3rd sector, the public and partners so you will need excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex ideas and information in clear manner.
You will make full use of your expert knowledge in pro-active public health work to implement whole system leadership models and an evidence-based approach for commissioning and developing high quality equitable services.
The roles will be demanding and required high calibre candidates with a proven track record. The ideal candidate will have gained experience at a senior level in a local authority setting and will be very familiar with local authority public health work and the challenges faced. You will need good decision making skills and the ability to lead and influence others.
It is essential that applicants have inclusion in the GMC Full and Specialist Register with a license to practice/GDC Specialist List and/or inclusion in the UK Public Health Register (UKPHR) for Public Health Specialists.
