Our client is a Local Authority in East London. They need to appoint an established Procurement Officer to the role of Category Lead to focus on procurement work within their Construction and Environment Division.
You will work be responsible for the leadership and management of staff within your area, serving to ensure performance management arrangements are in place. Your
ultimate goal will be working to ensure effective procurement programme management and the effective application of corporate procurement standards and controls.
A key function of your role will be working with managers across the Council to advise and co-ordinate procurement activities across the designated category to enable service departments to achieve best value from all their contracts. Typical contracts will include:
- Building and Civil construction
- Major Refurbishment projects of existing Council Municipal properties and Residential Estates
- Building planned and reactive maintenance contracts
- Highway Maintenance and Construction services and works
- Parks and Ground Maintenance
To apply you will need a sound knowledge of procurement best practice, statute and contract case law, Council Standing Orders and Financial Regulations. Experience in at least some of the areas mentioned would be looked upon favourably but consideration would also be given to those who can demonstrate the appropriate level of managerial experience and a solid background in local authority procurement practice,
The initial contract will be at least 3-6 months and the rate will at least £475/day (inside IR35).
