Excellent opportunity for a Principal Transport Planner to join our local authority client in Dorset for a contract role. Our client is looking for someone with excellent knowledge of and experience in dealing with difficult and major developments, who can act on their own initiative, effectively as a Local Highway Officer.

You will play a key role in helping manage the departments' output and you will act as the key contact for a number of transport projects serving to provide expert planning advice.

To apply you will need to be degree qualified and able to demonstrate extensive experience in developing transport policies and projects and ideally you will have experience of working within a Local Authority setting.

You must have proven experience in transport modelling work, assessing Transport Assessments and dealing with the technical side of planning applications. You must be able to prepare robust LHA reports, be able to attend Planning Committee and other development meetings and deal with legal agreements, such as S106 agreements and be able to negotiate with developers on behalf of the Council.

It is essential that you have an understanding of the principal responsibilities of and the key issues facing local government and the public sector and a detailed knowledge and understanding of transport, traffic and highways statutory duties and practice.

This has initially been released as a 6 month contract but it will possibly be extended and the rate offered is between £35-£40/hr (inside IR35). Please get in touch for further information.
