Full Description

Our client a busy borough in South London and they require a Principal Transport Planner to join them for an interim role. One of the most important aspects of this position will be your role as the technical lead on all planning matters to a tube line extension which is due to take place in this borough. This will require you to work closely with TFL, the GLA, Network Rail and other local authorities in South London to ensure a co-ordinated policy position. As well as this project you will be involved with other transport related infrastructure and regeneration projects in the borough.

Reporting to the Planning Manager you will be responsible for providing professional advice on strategic transport planning matter and for developing our clients transport strategies, policies and programmes. This will include providing responses to consultation documents from professional and statutory bodies, including public and other related transport providers (walking, cycling, train, bus, taxis, motor vehicles, deliveries etc.).

You will be required to implement effective methods of consultation and customer care on highways and transport issues and schemes and you will drive the agenda with regard to planning policies and technical guidance on assessing the highway and transport aspects of development planning. You will also advise the Planning Officers on transport and highway-related development control issues.

To apply you will need to be degree qualified and able to demonstrate extensive experience in developing transport policies and projects and ideally you will have experience of working within a Local Authority setting. It is essential that you have an understanding of the principal responsibilities of and the key issues facing local government and the public sector and a detailed knowledge and understanding of transport, traffic and highways statutory duties and practice.

This role will be offered on a rolling contract basis and the rate offered will depend on your experience but is expected to be up to £35/hr umbrella (potentially room to negotiate). Please get in touch for further details.
