Our client based in Kent, South East England is in the process of setting up a new border control facility in response to changes brought about by Brexit. We have already filled a number of positions for this project including several Principal Officers, however the client is now looking for two additional Principal Port Health Officers to join the team there.
'Principal Port Health Officer' grade. The salary offered will be £41,718- £46,239 + 14% shift allowance and there is also the offer of relocation assistance should you need to move for the role. At this grade you will manage assigned staff within the service and take lead responsibility for specific tasks within the wider remit of the Port Health Authority. You will have full opportunity to provide your expertise and input on shaping service delivery and you will be required to make an effective contribution to the development and achievement of the health protection and business objectives.
You will lead on all core activity in connection with Official Controls including carrying out checks on imports of products of animal origin and high risk food not of animal origin in order to ensure that only products that are safe to eat enter the food chain.

We are looking for established Environmental Health Officers, anyone with previous Port Health experience would be ideal. Previous team lead / management experience would be perfect but our client will also consider those looking to make the career step provided they can show the level of technical knowledge in respect of port health duties undertaken by a Local Authority.
