Full Description

Osborne Richardson have an excellent contract opportunity for a Principal Planning Policy Officer to join a local authority in North London. Our client is developing a Local Plan which will capture major public and private investment in their town centres and meet their high housing and employment needs.

The successful hire to this role will be involved with producing planning policy documents, putting together the evidence base that supports the emerging Local Plan, and engaging with major strategic developments. You may also need to draft detailed delegated reports, present at committees, work with Members and our clients Duty to Cooperate Partners, engage with the Councils joint venture partner, and consult with local communities.

You will have experience as a senior, principal or lead in producing Local Plans. Ideally you will have demonstrable experience of policy formulation and specialist knowledge or interest in one or more of the major strategy elements: town centres; urban expansions; delivering modal shift; economic development, housing delivery, and the strategic evidence base needed for Local Plans.

In order to carry out this role you will need at least 5+ years of experience in working in a similar Senior/Principal role and you must have good knowledge of planning legislation and policy guidance in relation to national, regional and local plan making and associated legislative requirements. You will need to be well organised with good data management skills and the ability to manage a large amount of complex information. Good communication skills are essential and you will need to be able to work with minimal supervision to deliver the project. A degree in planning or other appropriate professional qualification is required.

This contract will initially be offered for 3 months but could be extended and the rate offered is up to £35/hr inside IR35. There could potentially be room to negotiate depending on experience.
