Full Description

Our client, a Local Authority based in the East of London, is seeking a Principal Planning Officer to carrying out a full range of development management functions, which include managing a heavy caseload and deputising for the Team Leader when required.

You will assist the Team Leader in managing the statutory Development Management functions, prepare reports and recommendations, prepare appeal statements, and give evidence to public hearings/ inquiries. You will determine planning applications, including major schemes from application through negotiation to implementation and delivery.

To apply you will need a relevant planning degree, extensive development management experience and an excellent knowledge of UK planning regulations and guidance; ideally you will be professionally accredited. You will need to have good leadership and negotiation skills and be comfortable dealing with external organisations.

This is a contract position which will initially be offered for 3 months but is expected to be a rolling contract. Our client is offering a competitive a rate of around £40p/hr Umbrella. This role is inside IR35.

Our client offers a hybrid working arrangement. Officers are required to come in to the office at least twice a week, but also attend any in person meetings, site visits, committees as required.
