Our client is a Local Authority based in Devon and they are seeking a Principal Planning Officer to carrying out a full range of development management functions, which include managing a heavy caseload and deputising for the Team Leader when required. You will manage complex pre-application negotiations and subsequent planning applications for major and strategic development within the Borough. You will assist the Team Leader in managing the statutory Development Management functions, prepare reports and recommendations, prepare appeal statements, and give evidence to public hearings/ inquiries. This could be a good opportunity for a Senior Planning Officer looking to move into a Principal level role.
To apply you will need a relevant planning degree, extensive development management experience and an excellent knowledge of UK planning regulations and guidance; ideally you will be professionally accredited. You will need to have good leadership and negotiation skills and be comfortable dealing with external organisations.
This will initially be offered as a 2 -3 month contract position but could be a rolling contract and our client is looking for someone who can start at short notice.
