Full Description

Principal Environmental Health Officer (Team Leader) – Food Safety – East Midlands (Hybrid)

We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a local authority in the East Midlands, for an experienced Principal Environmental Health Officer to lead their Food Safety team. This is a team leader role, so you will manage and support a team of officers while overseeing a varied caseload of food safety inspections and interventions across the district. Strong management skills, excellent people skills and clear communication are essential, as you will be guiding the team, maintaining high standards and acting as a key point of contact for colleagues and stakeholders.

To be considered, you must have proven experience as a team leader or manager within a local authority Environmental Health service, with a strong track record of leading, motivating and developing a team of officers. Experience working as a Principal EHO is essential, along with strong expertise in food safety inspections, as this forms the main part of the role. Experience in Health and Safety, Infectious Disease Control, Public Health or Animal Welfare would also be welcome. Candidates must hold EHRB registration, have a full driving licence, and be able to travel to sites across the district.

This role pays £60 per hour (negotiable) and is offered for a minimum of 6 months. It is a hybrid position, with office attendance required for at least 2 days per week, typically Tuesday and Wednesday, as presence within the team is important for this leadership role. If you’re interested, please apply today or get in touch for a confidential discussion.
