Our client, a local authority in Essex, requires both a Principal and a Senior Policy Officer to join them for contract roles within their Planning Strategy and Implementation Team.
Both officers will be required to prepare professional reports, recommendations and briefings with limited supervision, communicating complex issues clearly and succinctly. You will consult, engage and advise customers, communities, colleagues, elected Members and other interested parties as required by legislation so good communication skills and confidence dealing with a range of people is absolutely essential.
A key function you will undertake is to provide support and take responsibility for the work of the team in the development, implementation, review and monitoring of local planning policies and strategy. You will also support the refinement of the Local Development Plans, Joint Strategic Plans, Supplementary Planning Documents, Neighbourhood Plans, and Development Monitoring activities.
The successful candidates for these roles will need to have well rounded knowledge of current UK planning legislation. Previous work experience within a local authority planning policy team is essential and an appropriate Town Planning degree level qualification is required. Previous roles will have seen you take on project responsibility and they will have provided the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects.
These roles are will initially be offered for 6 months. The rates offered will depend on experience and these roles are inside IR35. Please get in touch for further information.
