Our client based in Kent is currently setting up a major UK Border Control Facility, working in conjunction with DEFRA. After a successful first round of recruitment, they are still looking to recruit a number of Port Health Officers at different levels.
The work of the Authority is vital to the smooth running of the border, and to the protection of food safety and public health in the UK. They ensure the smooth flow of safe food through Europe’s busiest ferry port - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week - and onto the shelves of shops and supermarkets across the country. And you could play a key role in shaping this expanded operation!
The Council is working very closely with DEFRA and the project will involve multiple partner agencies and organisations and you will be presented with an opportunity to take your career in a whole new direction. You will lead on all core activity in connection with Official Controls including carrying out checks on imports of products of animal origin and high risk food not of animal origin in order to ensure that only products that are safe to eat enter the food chain. You will have full opportunity to provide your expertise and input on shaping service delivery.

Port Health Team Leader - £52,000 - £59,000 pa,
Port Health Senior Officer - £41,000 - £47,000 pa,
Port Health Officer - £35,000 - £41,000 pa,
