Our client is a local authority based in South West London and they require a Planning Officer to join their Sustainable Communities Division for a contract role. Reporting to the Project Manager (Strategic Policy & Research) you will support all aspects of the work undertaken by the team, in particular on strategic planning (Local Development Framework, neighbourhood planning), economic development (Economic Development Strategy, Local Economic Assessment) and transport (Local Implementation Plan, transport projects).
You will be involved with the preparation of the evidence base to support the delivery of our clients strategic projects. You will be required to provide technical support for the delivery of a robust evidence base to support the Council's strategic, transport and economic development objectives, including the delivery of sites.
In order to carry out this role you will need good knowledge of planning legislation and techniques relating to one or more of the following: development plan making and delivery, transport planning, public realm, economic development, sustainability and regeneration. You will need to be well organised with good data management skills and the ability to manage a large amount of complex information. Good communication skills are essential and a degree in planning or other appropriate professional qualification is required.
The role will initially run until the end of Dec 2020 and the rate will be between £20-£24/hr (inside IR35). A job spec is available on application.
