Full Description

Our client based in North London requires 2 Town Planning Enforcement Officers who can start as soon as possible to join them for contract roles. These will be customer-focused roles and you will assist in the timely and appropriate conclusion of planning enforcement cases, both new and historic. You will be responsible for providing expert technical advice at every stage of an enforcement case. Our client is open to candidates with various levels of experience from Junior up to Senior/Principal level, though it is absolutely essential you have at least 6 months of experience of working within a similar capacity in a local authority setting.

The cases you work on will likely be focused on residential properties but may also include commercial premises. As a Planning Enforcement Officer your fundamental role will be to carry out site visits and investigate potential planning control breaches. You will be required to record evidence and detailed information in a precise format as it may be required should a case progress to prosecution.

More experienced Officers will be involved with the serving and monitoring of compliance with abatement notices, stop notices, enforcement notices, breach of condition notices, section 215 notices and producing witness statements for the service of summonses. You will also carry out interviews where required and represent the Council at committee meetings.

Recent work experience in the field is essential and your knowledge of current planning legislation and guidelines will need to be fully up to date. You will need to have good communication skills as you will be dealing with a wide range of stakeholders on a daily basis to convey complex, detailed information in a clear, concise format. As a senior member of the team you will also support and provide guidance to junior officers.

The role will be offered with a rate of between £20 - £30p/hr (umbrella) depending on expeirence and it will be a 3 month rolling contract. Please get in touch for further information and a copy of the job spec.
