PEHO - EP
We are seeking a Principal Environmental Health Officer to lead and manage our Environmental Protection team. You will be responsible for providing an effective and comprehensive, customer-focused service in accordance with legislation and agreed service standards acting as lead officer for Environmental Protection (environmental/animal activities permits, air quality, community protection, noise and other statutory nuisance, national assistance funerals, bathing water quality, contaminated land, pest control, found dogs, and planning/licensing consultations) matters.
About you
You must possess an in-depth understanding of the effective application of related legislation and enforcement processes and be qualified, as a minimum, to the equivalent of Environmental Health Officer level - ideally you will be a member of the CIEH. In addition, you will hold and ILM level 5 or equivalent qualification in management or have equivalent experience. Recent experience of delivering a similar service; managing and motivating a team; and reviewing, developing, implementing and monitoring environmental health policy and strategy are also essential. You will also be adept at utilising technology for service delivery and able to make timely and confident decisions on complex matters as well as having excellent communication and influencing skills.
EHO -Food
We are looking for an Environmental Health Officer to specialise in a full range of food and health and safety duties for all categories of businesses in East Devon, undertake reactive investigations for complaints, infectious disease and accidents, develop and deliver education and public information initiatives, respond to planning and licensing consultations, process licensing applications for skin piercing and some animal activities and support the developing public health and wellbeing agenda work. About you
You will hold a degree or diploma in Environmental Health and be EHRB registered and may hold a NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety. Adept at organising your workload and managing conflicting demands, you will also have excellent written and verbal communication skills enabling you to demonstrate respect and consideration for others as well as the ability to quickly build rapport with customers and stakeholders alike. You will have the ability to manage situations professionally and calmly.
You will also be fully conversant with Microsoft Office and database applications and able to carry out independent research. This role involves travelling throughout the district with equipment, so you will also need a valid driving license and access to a car or suitable mode of transport (reasonable adjustments may be possible according to the Equality Act
