Full Description

As an Occupancy Officer you will work across the neighbourhood housing team, housing options and in partnership with other agencies such as private registered providers (PRPs) to identify overcrowded and under occupied households. You will play a key role in facilitating the transfer of households into suitable accommodation in an effort to prevent those affected by welfare benefit reform from falling into arrears or financial hardship.

On a daily basis you will be required to maintain the under occupation transfer register and provide information and advice to tenants. You will work with housing options staff to re-house those threatened with homelessness into the private rented sector. You will also assist housing officers with void handovers, viewings and sign ups for moves agreed under the scheme.

To carry out this role you will need significant knowledge of key housing and homelessness legislation, including Housing Act 1996, Parts of VI & VII of Homelessness Act 2002, Housing Act 1988 and Localism Act 2011. You will need a working knowledge of welfare benefits, in particular universal credit and the bedroom tax. Good IT skills are essential as you will be required to maintain accurate financial records and reporting information.

The role is based in West London and will pay around £21/hr (umbrella). The contract is expected to last at least 3-6 months.
