Full Description

Our client needs to appoint a Local Plan Project Manager on a contract basis for at least 6 months. They will need you to lead on activity to implement the Local Plan with a specific agenda in relation to delivering government housing targets and managing sustainable business and community growth plans.

Our client has received grant funding and wants to meet the deadline to submit a plan in Dec 2026, and the Borough has a range of exciting projects underway. They need an experienced planning policy lead to enable this taking them from Reg 18 to Reg 19 and then ideally Reg 22.

Initially this would be to draft compliant scopes for the evidence base for the local plan – the SHELAA – strategic housing and employment land availability assessment and Gypsy, Traveller study.

The Council is due to submit their Local Plan for examination (and Adoption) as close to December 2023 as possible so you will join at a busy time and you will need to be able to quickly fit into the team. Specifically they will ask you to focus on integrating the resources, risks and specific planning issues needed to complete and submit the Local Plan document.

We are looking for someone with a substantial amount of UK planning policy knowledge and previous experience of managing the latter stages of Local Plan development. You will need to be confident and able to hit the ground running. Our client needs someone who can attend the office in Berkshire 1 day per week.

They are offering a good rate, £55- £60/hr which is reflective of the level of experience needed to be successful in this role.
