Osborne Richardson is delighted to be working with one of the UK's leading multi-disciplinary companies, to find a sharp Junior Economist/Planner or Town Planner to join their team.

Economics and Property Team Specifics

This is a newly established team, with the aim of becoming the leading Economic and Property team within 3 years and this hire will be essential to that success.

The remit of the Economic and Property team is to lead on work in the field of property, planning and economics, covering:

o Preparing and influencing economic, planning, property, regeneration, and infrastructure development strategy, policy and research at national, sub-regional and local levels.
o Establishing the economic, financial and business cases for projects and programmes, including major proposals and estate/property initiatives.
o Developing new business opportunities in the field of economic consultancy as opportunities arise.

In this role, you will work with other teams within the company not only to deliver work, but also to develop areas of research that will raise the profile of the company.

Role specifics

o Help prepare competitive proposals
o Undertake research and analysis
o Help develop creative and original solutions to satisfy all parties
o Contribute to writing complex reports, interpreting data and making clear and relevant recommendations
o Communicate and negotiate effectively with clients and colleagues
o Maintain an awareness of market conditions and government policies
o Keep informed about documents relating to relevant policy and practice

Role requirements

o Good written and communication skills
o Detail conscious and accurate
o Thrives under pressure, can work to tight deadlines
o Team player
o Knowledge of micro-economics principles and concepts, feasibility studies and business plans, and ability to learn how to apply this knowledge to the team's areas of work
o Knowledge of the UK planning system
o Qualitative and quantitative data analysis skills. Numerical and analytic skills, preferably including modelling expertise (usually in Excel)
o An awareness of the consultancy world and a good fit with consultancy culture (essential)
o A degree in town planning, geography, property surveying, economics, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience (essential)
o Membership/working towards membership of an appropriate professional institution such as the RTPI and/or RICS (desirable)
