Full Description

Our client is a Local Authority based in the South East England and they are seeking an experienced Interim Director for their Development & Regulation Service.

The primary role of this post will be to support the establishment of the new department including the development of a new management lay that reports to the Service Director, initiating a service improvement plan for the Planning Service that cuts across the whole of the Place Directorate and supporting existing managers/services with their current priorities.

Applicants for this post must be qualified Town Planners with experience of local authority town planning and have a strong background in successful Change Management. Your strong technical knowledge of UK planning legislation will need to be complimented with good management skills and the confidence and ability to direct a team.

Critical to this role will be the ability to communicate effectively and to engage in negotiations that can often be sensitive and complex so you will need to be able to engage productively with third parties to develop good relationships that ensure successful development.

The post is initially offered as a 5 month contract and the rate offered will be dependant on your experience (This role is inside IR35).

Part time working weeks will be considered. The department is working at home due to covid restrictions, with occasional need to be in the office (approx. 1 day per week).
