In this role you will conduct reviews of suitability of accommodation provided or offered to homeless households in accordance with our client's statutory duties under the Homeless Reduction Act. You will help determine decisions on homelessness applications and you will also deal with appeals. On a regular basis you will be required to produce written adjudication that serves to consider and supply the full reason for the review decision.
You will report to the Housing Solutions Manager and work under their guidance to act as the council's representative in any court challenge to review decisions or in any litigation around the conduct of the review. At all times you will be required to ensure that all enquiries and cases are progressed speedily and efficiently and work towards ensuring targets are achieved in an effort to minimise the risk of a successful legal challenge.
You will be joining a very busy team dealing with some challenging situations so you will need a good working knowledge of relevant legislation including The Homeless Reduction Act 2017 and The Housing Act 1996 Part VI. You will need to be well organised and capable of managing your own caseload.
The role is based with a local authority in Essex and is well paid at £26/hr (umbrella). The initial contract will be 3-6 months.
