Our client requires a Housing Advisor to join their Housing Options team. You will be helping re-house tenants and new applicants under the council's obligations under the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017. On a daily basis you will be dealing with new applications and providing written responses (decision letters) as well as dealing with inbound telephone queries.
Our client is extremely busy and you will be assigned a backlog of cases with the requirement to prioritise and work through as quickly as possible. You will need to be able to assess individual cases and provide the appropriate conclusion in an effort to prevent homelessness. You will be working under the Homelessness Act 1996, Part VII, Prevention from Eviction Act 1977 and Homelessness Act 2002 and making appropriate S184 decisions.
To carry out this role you will need extensive experience in a social housing environment with a thorough knowledge of the legislation mentioned above. You will need to be comfortable managing your own caseload and you will need to be able to work well under pressure. It is critical that you are able to deal with difficult circumstances and work with service users to assist them through the process in an efficient manner.
The role is based in East London and will pay £22/hr. It is expected to run for at least 6 months.
