Our client has an excellent opportunity available for a minimum 6 month period as they seek to appoint a Head of Strategic Housing and Development.
You will assume overall responsibility for leading and delivering the vision and key priorities of the Council’s Housing Strategy. You will work in collaboration corporately and with key partners and stakeholders, locally and regionally including with the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority.
Making full use of your extensive managerial and strategy experience you will provide advice, guidance and support on corporate policy and strategy development. You will be expected to ensure that national and regional changes are translated into the local context and assessed in terms of impacts and opportunities for the Council and their residents. A key function of your role will be working to ensure activity serves to optimise the use of the Council’s land and property assets.
The post has responsibility for areas of service delivery including the Council’s Right to Buy functions, Council leaseholder services and strategic private sector housing initiatives.
We are looking for someone with a proven track record within a Local Authority setting. We need a confident leader with the ability to implement change and motivate and guide those around you. You will need to have an excellent knowledge of Local Government democratic processes, an understanding of the political context of work in this field and a solid knowledge of relevant legislative frameworks and Government policy agendas.
Previous managerial roles will have given you skills in performance management and leading on quality assurance initiatives to deliver best practice and services driven by value.
The day rate will be at least £600 and the role is inside IR35.
