Our client is keen to fill the role of Head of Safety Services as soon as possible as the current post holder will shortly be retiring and it would be ideal if there can be a handover period. They expect the initial contract will be 6 months but very likely to run until the end of March 2022.
In this role you will provide strategic and operational management and advice on Health &Safety, emergency planning and business continuity. You will have responsibility for 5 staff. You will deputise for the Chief Executive at the Sub Regional Resilience Forum and the multi-agency Borough Resilience Forum and you will deputise for the Assistant Director at management team meetings.
You will lead, develop and manage the Council's statutory safety management strategy. You will serve to develop and embed the policies necessary to drive through the implementation of systems to achieve compliance with statutory duty under the Health & safety At Work Act 1974. As a technical expert in the field you will be the main source of reference for all matters relating to UK and EU health and safety legislation.
It will be critical that you are able to work with senior managers across the council to champion best practice and implement appropriate controls to enable services to deliver effective safety and emergency management arrangements.
We are looking for an experienced manager who is just as comfortable hands on as leading others. Good communication skills are essential and we'd expect appropriate professional qualifications and accreditation at this level. A full JD is available on application.
This is a great role which will offer the chance to really make a difference and take ownership of a vital service on our client's organisation. They are looking to pay £450-£500 per day so it's a good rate. The role is inside IR35
