Our client, based in West London, is seeking to appoint an experienced Head of Public Protection & Enforcement to lead and shape the Council’s regulatory and enforcement functions. This pivotal role will oversee key service areas including Environmental Health, Trading Standards, Licensing, and Street Scene & Environmental Enforcement. You will be responsible for driving service excellence, ensuring statutory compliance, and delivering outcomes that align with corporate priorities. Working closely with Elected Members and Committees, you will provide strategic leadership, clear accountability, and a visible presence that promotes the service proactively to local residents.
The successful candidate will bring substantial experience in senior management within public protection or regulatory services, with a strong track record of leading multidisciplinary teams in a local government setting. You will demonstrate sound knowledge of relevant legislation, excellent stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to balance enforcement with community-focused service delivery. A confident communicator, you will be comfortable advising Members, presenting at Committees, and navigating complex political environments while maintaining a focus on performance, innovation, and continuous improvement.
This is a 6-month contract opportunity offered on a full-time basis, with hybrid working arrangements available by negotiation. The role offers a competitive daily rate of £550, reflecting the seniority and impact of the position.
