Our client, a Local Authority in South East London, is looking for an Environmental Protection Officer to join their team on an initial 3-month contract. The role covers a broad caseload of environmental protection work, including statutory nuisance investigations (noise, smoke, dust, odour, and other nuisance complaints), waste and refuse accumulation cases, and pest control and vermin-related investigations. You'll manage complaint investigations and case management from start to finish, alongside general environmental protection enforcement duties and the preparation of evidence and enforcement action where required.
Ideally, candidates will be fully qualified Environmental Health Officers holding an accredited environmental health qualification. However, applicants with significant practical experience in environmental protection, statutory nuisance, waste enforcement, or pest control investigations within a local authority setting are also encouraged to apply. Experience working under the Environmental Protection Act 1990, the Prevention of Damage by Pests Act 1949, and related legislation would be particularly beneficial.
