Osborne Richardson have an excellent opportunity for a Highways Engineer to join our local authority client in the East Midlands.

You will play a key role in helping manage the departments' output and you will act as the key contact for a number of transport projects serving to provide expert planning advice. You will provide technical advice and recommendations on the transport and highway implications of new development proposals and development control issues which will primarily be relatively minor applications for new residential development.

You will be required to implement effective methods of consultation and customer care on highways and transport issues and schemes and you will drive the agenda with regard to planning policies and technical guidance on assessing the highway and transport aspects of development planning. You will also advise the Planning Officers on transport and highway-related development control issues and assist in the preparation of evidence for appeals, pre-application enquiries, legal agreements and other development related matters.

To apply you will need a relevant degree qualification and able to demonstrate extensive experience in developing transport policies and projects and ideally you will have experience of working within a Local Authority setting. It is essential that you have detailed knowledge of the technical, financial and other processes associated with the Highways Development Control service and/or the assessment and delivery of highway improvement schemes.

This will be a home working role however it will require site assessment of planning applications to be undertaken - therefore the ability to travel within the geographic area within the East Midlands will be essential.

This has initially been released as a 11 month contract but could be extended and the rate offered is up to £24/hr (inside IR35). Please get in touch for further details.
