We are seeking an experienced Pollution Control Officer or Environmental Health Officer to join a busy Pollution Team in South Wales. The role will involve working on statutory nuisance complaint investigation and enforcement, with a particular focus on noise nuisance cases from domestic, industrial, commercial, and licensed premises. You will be asked to investigate and enforce issues such as noise, smoke, fumes, odours, dust, drainage problems, accumulations of waste, artificial light, insects, and animals kept in poor conditions.
Day-to-day responsibilities will include providing professional advice and guidance over the phone as well as undertaking follow-up investigation work where required. You will be expected to apply and interpret environmental protection legislation and manage a wide range of nuisance complaints effectively and professionally.
We are particularly interested in candidates who have previous experience within a nuisance team and who can demonstrate strong investigative and enforcement skills. If you also have contaminated land experience, this will place you in a strong position for consideration. Excellent communication skills and a solid understanding of relevant legislation are essential.
This contract is offered initially for three months, with a high likelihood of extension. The position offers a flexible working pattern of four days from home and one day on district or in the office. The start date is flexible but subject to pre-employment checks and IT setup. The role is offered at £45 per hour (Umbrella).
