We are seeking an experienced Environmental Protection Officer to support a local authority’s Environmental Protection team in delivering both statutory and non-statutory duties. This role focuses on key environmental areas including air quality, contaminated land, private water supplies, and pollution prevention and control (PPC). The successful candidate will play a vital role in helping to ensure compliance with environmental legislation, contributing to the protection of public health and the wider environment.
Key responsibilities include providing technical support, conducting fieldwork, collecting and analysing environmental data, and offering general administrative assistance. You will be involved in site inspections, monitoring activities, and assisting in the preparation of reports and regulatory documentation. The role requires a solid understanding of environmental legislation, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and within a team. Strong communication and organisational skills are essential, as the role involves liaising with internal departments, external agencies, and members of the public.
This is a 3-month contract offering £40 per hour via an umbrella company. The position requires on-site attendance three days per week and is based in Staffordshire. The role offers a dynamic and varied workload suited to someone with previous experience in environmental protection within a Local Council.
