We are seeking an experienced Health and Safety Officer to support a busy Council team in South Wales. This role will involve providing professional health and safety advice and ensuring compliance across a range of council services, with a strong emphasis on carrying out accident investigations and promoting a positive safety culture.
Day-to-day responsibilities will include investigating workplace accidents and incidents, preparing detailed reports with recommendations, and ensuring that corrective actions are implemented. You will also be expected to conduct site inspections, risk assessments, and audits, providing clear advice to managers and staff on compliance with relevant health and safety legislation.
We are looking for someone with proven experience in health and safety within a local authority or similar organisation. You should have strong knowledge of current legislation and the ability to engage effectively with staff at all levels. Strong investigative, reporting, and communication skills are essential, and a professional health and safety qualification.
This is an initial three-month contract with the likelihood of extension. The position offers flexible working, with the majority of duties able to be undertaken remotely, alongside some on-site work as required. The role is offered at £45 per hour (Umbrella) with a flexible start date, subject to pre-employment checks and IT setup. Flexible working and 3-4 days WFH per week.
