Full Description
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Health Officer to support the delivery of food safety, health & safety, public health, and port health regulatory functions in Lincolnshire. The successful candidate will undertake inspections, investigations, and enforcement duties across food manufacturing, storage, distribution, retail premises, and vessels. You will respond to service requests, investigate complaints, and enforce corrective actions where required, ensuring businesses comply with all relevant legislation. This hybrid role offers flexibility to complete administrative tasks remotely while maintaining an active field presence.
Core responsibilities include formal enforcement actions such as issuing legal notices, seizing goods, prosecuting offences, and closing non-compliant premises or activities. You will investigate workplace accidents, food poisoning outbreaks, and notifiable disease cases, involving interviews under PACE, gathering witness statements, preparing legal files, and presenting evidence in court. The role requires managing evidence collection, sampling, report writing, and legal document preparation in line with statutory service plans and outcome frameworks. Coordination with partner agencies is essential, with opportunities to lead joint enforcement operations.
This position requires regular use of personal protective equipment, IT hardware, and specialist tools to carry out regulatory duties effectively. Candidates must have a proven track record in environmental health or port health enforcement with solid knowledge of applicable legislation and procedures. Strong organisational skills, a methodical approach to investigations, and the ability to work independently or within a team are essential. The role is offered at £45 per hour via umbrella company, with rates negotiable for the right candidate.
