Our local authority client, based in Essex, is offering an excellent opportunity for a Food and Health & Safety Officer on an initial 3-month contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting high- and low-risk inspections of food establishments, investigating accidents, and ensuring compliance with local and national health & safety regulations. This role provides an excellent opportunity to contribute to public health and safety within the community while working across a variety of sectors.
Applicants should have a minimum of two years’ experience in a regulatory or local authority setting. Candidates must be FSA food competent and have experience liaising with professional councils. Expertise in Health and Safety enforcement, including inspections within dentistry and tattoo sectors, is essential. Additionally, candidates should have a strong background in managing complaints, accident investigations, and ensuring corrective actions are implemented effectively. Attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently are key attributes for success in this role.
This is a 30-hour-per-week position, with flexibility available for the right candidate. Core hours must be maintained, but the role offers flexible working arrangements, including the option for home working. On-site attendance will be required for inspections and meetings as necessary.
