As the Empty Property Lead in our client's enviro health team you will focus on dealing with long term empty properties with a view to returning them to occupation. A key function you will perform is setting up and maintaining a database in relation to empty properties and formulating an annual list of high priority premises based on the Council's objectives. You will be leading the effort to engage in dialogue with the property owners/interested parties with a view to successful re-occupation.
On a daily basis you will undertake visits and investigations in relation to empty properties and other private sector housing matters as required and instigate appropriate enforcement action through applicable delegated powers. You can expect to be working in conjunction with a number of other teams across the Council and on occasion with outside third parties. If required you will act as expert witness in certain cases.
To carry out this role you will need extensive experience as an Environmental Health Officer within a Private Sector Housing team. You will to be HHSRS qualified. It is essential that you are able to manage your own workload and are comfortable undertaking a wide range of duties from inspection through to landlord negotiation, producing and distributing materials and information and carrying out data and admin management tasks.
Our client is based in South Wales and for a role with this level of responsibility we'd expect to pay around £35/hr. The initial contract will be 3-6 months, subject to extension. Ideally our client would like you to start within the next 2-3 weeks if possible.
