Full Description

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Environmental Health Officer to join a Private Sector Housing team within a London authority. The role will focus on managing a caseload of reactive and disrepair cases, investigating housing-related complaints and service requests, and making robust and proportionate enforcement decisions under the Housing Act 2004. You will prepare and serve notices, reports and other enforcement documentation, including CPNs where appropriate, and represent the Council at tribunals when notices are appealed.

The successful candidate will have a BSc or Diploma in Environmental Health and be eligible for EHORB registration as an EHO, with at least 2 years’ experience in Environmental Health Housing. You will have detailed knowledge of the relevant housing legislation and extensive experience in enforcement action under Part 1 of the Housing Act 2004. You will also be confident dealing with challenging landlords and tenants and able to manage sensitive and potentially hazardous situations professionally. Knowledge of Flare/Civica is desirable.

This is a hybrid role, with 1 day per week in the office, with the remaining time split between site visits and working from home. The role involves lone working across a diverse range of environments, so a strong understanding of health and safety procedures and the ability to work independently are essential. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Private Sector Housing professional to join a busy team on a 6-month contract with competitive market rates.
