Our client, based in the South West, is seeking an experienced Environmental Health Housing Officer to investigate and resolve housing and public health complaints and support the inspection of private sector housing, including Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs) and mobile home sites. The role will involve assessing housing conditions under HHSRS, supporting enforcement and compliance activity, assisting with Renters’ Rights Act 2025 duties, preparing schedules of repair and improvement, and supporting HMO licensing, including applications, inspections, licensing recommendations and monitoring compliance.
The successful candidate must be HHSRS trained and hold a relevant degree or equivalent qualification in Environmental Health, or have significant relevant experience in a similar role. You will need strong knowledge of private sector housing, HMO licensing and housing enforcement, together with excellent communication and organisational skills. A full driving licence and access to your own vehicle are essential. The role has a minimum 40% office presence, although this may increase depending on onsite requirements.
This is an excellent long-term opportunity, with the contract running until August 2027. The role offers the opportunity to work within an established Environmental Health team and gain valuable experience across private sector housing, HMO licensing, housing standards and enforcement.
