Full Description
Our local authority client in Kent is seeking an experienced Environmental Health Housing Officer to join their team on an initial 3-month contract. You'll lead on housing standards casework across the private rented sector, managing cases from complaint through inspection to formal enforcement under the Housing Act 2004, Renters' Rights Act 2025, and related legislation.
The role will involve carrying out HHSRS inspections, serving Improvement Notices, managing HMO licensing, issuing civil penalties, and supporting prosecutions. You'll also mentor two housing apprentices while helping to strengthen the authority's compliance approach and implement new legislative requirements, including Awaab's Law and the Decent Homes Standard.
The client is looking for someone who can start within the next two weeks. Full-time is preferred, although part-time applicants will also be considered. The contract offers a competitive rate of £49 per hour.
