Full Description
Our client, a local authority based in the Devon area, is seeking an experienced Environmental Health Food Officer to join their team on a contract basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified professional to take on a varied caseload of food safety inspections, investigations, and enforcement work within a supportive and well-established team. The role offers the chance to make a genuine impact on public health standards across the region while working in one of the UK's most scenic counties.
The successful candidate must be EHORB registered, hold a minimum of 20 hours of CPD, and have completed the relevant competency matrix in line with current Food Standards Agency requirements. You'll be confident carrying out food hygiene and food standards inspections, responding to complaints, providing advice to food business operators, and taking enforcement action where necessary, all while maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with current legislation. Previous local authority experience is essential, and strong communication and report-writing skills will be key to succeeding in this role.
This is a full-time contract role currently running until the end of December, though our client may consider part-time hours for the right candidate. Pay rates are genuinely open to negotiation, so we'd encourage interested applicants to get in touch and let us know their expectations. If you're an experienced EH Food Officer looking for your next contract opportunity in a beautiful part of the country, we'd love to hear from you — apply today or contact us directly to discuss further.
