Our client, based in the West Midlands, is seeking an experienced Environmental Health Food Officer to join their team on a short-term contract. This role involves carrying out a wide range of food safety duties, including food hygiene inspections across all risk categories, enforcement revisits, FHRS re-scores, and investigations into food complaints, RIDDOR notifications, and health and safety concerns. You may also be required to support infectious disease follow-ups and, if competent, undertake food standards inspections for caterers and retailers.
To be considered, candidates must be fully competent in food hygiene (food standards experience is desirable) and able to demonstrate recent Local Authority food safety experience within the past 12 months. Applicants must hold the EHRB qualification or a Higher Certificate in Food and be able to provide evidence of competency. Strong investigative skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage workloads independently are essential.
This is a 3–4 month contract offering £45 per hour. Full-time candidates are preferred, with a requirement to be on-site at least 3 days per week and access to a vehicle for inspections. Flexible or part-time arrangements may be considered for the right candidate, with the option to work from home for administrative tasks.
