Osborne Richardson have an excellent opportunity for a Development Manager to join a Local Authority in North West England. Our client is in the process of delivering a transformation programme of their Town Centre which is valued at £250m. They are also developing plans for 2000 new homes around the town centre and additional public realm enhancements. Their aim is to play a leading role in the future growth of the City Region and the North West economy over the next 20-years and beyond.
As the Development Manager you will be responsible for leading a team of Planners and ensuring the effective delivery of planning application assessments, including the management of appeals. As well as day to day management of your team you may, on occasion, be called to act as an expert witness and also be required to deputise for the Group Manager of Development Control & Building Management.
Applicants for this post must be qualified Town Planners with strong experience of leading Development Management teams and major projects within a local authority setting. Your strong technical knowledge of UK planning legislation will need to be complimented with strong management skills and the confidence and ability to direct the above service areas. Critical to this role will be the ability to communicate effectively and to engage in negotiations that can often be sensitive and complex so you will need to be able to engage productively with third parties to develop good relationships that ensure successful development.
This contract will initially run until mid March 2020 but could be extended beyond this date. The role is inside IR35 and the rate offered will depend on candidates experience but we expect it to be between £50-£60/hr. Please contact us for further information including a copy of the JD.
