Full Description
You will deliver a proactive damp and mould investigation service across the council’s housing stock, ensuring homes are safe, healthy and compliant with housing regulations. This includes carrying out property inspections, diagnosing the root causes of damp, mould and condensation issues, and producing clear technical reports with recommended remedial actions. You will prepare specifications for repair works, work closely with repairs and asset management teams to ensure timely resolution, inspect completed works for quality, and engage with residents to explain findings and provide practical advice. The role also involves maintaining accurate records and ensuring cases meet regulatory requirements and response times.
The council is seeking an experienced professional with a strong background in diagnosing and resolving damp, mould and condensation issues in residential properties. You should have a good understanding of social housing regulations such as HHSRS, Awaab’s Law and Decent Homes standards, as well as experience working within a compliance-driven or public sector environment. The ability to produce clear technical reports, work collaboratively with internal teams, and communicate effectively with residents is essential. A building or surveying qualification and knowledge of ventilation systems, retrofit or local authority housing repairs would be beneficial.
This is a 6-month temporary contract offering £400 per day (umbrella) with the opportunity to work on a varied caseload within a large local authority housing portfolio. The role provides the chance to make a direct impact on housing conditions and resident wellbeing while working alongside experienced housing, compliance and asset management teams. The position is full-time and requires on-site inspections and travel across Essex for a minimum of three days per week.
